이 무렵에는 제3의 시각에 대한 관심을 가지게 되었다. 즉 타자에 대한 관심이다. 그래서 상호작용할 수 있는 작품을 만들게 되었다.
1996 "visual communication" 감상자가 원하는대로 변형을 할 수 있도록 제시한 씨리즈 작품이다. 마치 조립식 장난감처럼. 육면체를 이루고 있는 작품 속의 각각의 작은 단위는 조화를 잃지 않으면서 다른 채색을 하여 구성하기에 따라 다른 표정을 가질 수 있도록 하였다.
1996-97 "보이는 것과 보이지 않는 것" 현재까지 계속되고 있는 씨리즈이다. 타자에 대한 관심은 다른 관점에 대한 수용에 대한 관심일 수 있다. 또한 보이지 않는 세계에 대한 존중이기도 하다. 내가 우주의 중심일 수 없다는 사실을 알면서도 늘 잊게 되는 어리석음에 대한 반성이기도 하다. 반투명 유리 속에 놓인 알 수 없는 물체에 대한 표현은 이런 생각을 형상화한 것이다.
특히 흙이 담긴 작품은 흙이 담긴 것이 뻔히 보이는 데 보이지 않는 것이 무엇인가 의문을 가질 지도 모른다. 이 작품은 일부로 강원도 조롱골에 가서 채집한 흙이다. 이 흙이 되기 전의 기나긴 시간을 생각해 보았다. 거창하긴 하지만 결국 우주의 생성까지 거슬러 올라가게 된다. '나'를 거슬러 올라가도 마찬가지 정점에서 만나게 된다. 어쨌든 이 흙은 함께 흙알갱이로 한곳에 우연히 모이기 전에 각각 알 수 없는 여정을 거쳤을 것이다. 함께 모여서 강원도 조롱골이라는 곳에 자리잡고 나서도 수 많은 별과 해와 달과 바람과 비와 이슬과 여러 빛깔의 하늘을 만났을 것이고 여러 가지 소리와, 여러가지 이름 모를 벌레, 풀의 싸앗이나 뿌리도 품었을 것이다. 곁을 지나간 사람들의 사연은 알 수 없으나 각각 기가 막힌 인생을 살고 있었을 것이다. 역사에 남을 자리나 인물이나 사물,곤충이 아닐 지라도 사실 세상을 움직이는 것은 그들이다. 그들의 소중함을 작품으로 옮겨 보았다.

You could say you can see the work of soil by your eyes. But I wanted you to think about the past of soil, that is the origin of that soil. The extremely, the origin of it is same as ours. Anyway, each particle of soil had met so many different experiences until they came together. After staying in the same place, they would met so many stars, changing moon, sun, wind, dewdrops and colorful skys. And also they would embraced so many strange sounds, bugs, seeds and roots. Perhaps, peoples passing by them should have been living awful lives. I think this world is moved by such no-named places and beings,not by historical famous places or men.
